It is now much much easier for Kenyans to buy items on Amazon. If you want to satiate your exquisite taste, or simply want to buy a gift that stands out for that someone special, Amazon is the place to check.
In the past, buying items on Amazon from Kenya faced two challenges :
Mode of Payment
You can now pay for your Amazon purchases at any Western Union agent. This is how it works ; browse items on Amazon, choose your item, during check out choose the Amazon PayCode option.You will get a code, present the code at any Western union Agent, Make the payment and wait for your item.
Alternatively you can pay by VISA or MASTERCARD. It is advised not to use your main Debit/Credit card for online purchases but you can easily get a card solely for online purchases and only load money in it when you want to make purchases. I use the CBA LOOP Card. I downloaded the LOOP APP from play store, and paid KES 500 for the card.
Post Office Box
You can now open a virtual post office box with the postal corporation of Kenya. It costs KES 300 annually. The product is called MPOST. Your mobile phone number becomes your official post office box.
The Item you purchase is sent to your Virtual post office box, you get a text to go collect once the item arrives.
